It would appear from the studies so far that the main concern is the loss of ice shelves which are vulnerable to warmer Westerly winds. The Larsen A and B shelves have already melted and the focus is now on the West Antarctic Ice Sheet.
The other immediate concern is the the Antarctic ocean is reaching saturation with CO2 and will change from absorbing CO2 to exhaling CO2 as it warms further.
At present the major quantities of ice stored over land in the continent appear safe and there are indications that they are getting colder. However little is known about their stability.
